We train and help congregation identify their potentials and resources, plan and implement their own action plans that aim tackling their social issues…
Capacity for Diakonia is a program of the Lutheran World Federation aimed at improving the ability of churches to respond to the needs of their communities and at developing churches’ capacity to respond to emergencies. This is achieved through conferences and trainings to teach church leadership how to determine and respond to the needs of their communities.
The Lutheran Church of Rwanda has many programs within the umbrella of Capacity for Diakonia. These programs include:
- The construction of a resource center in Nyagatare
- Numerous savings and credit programs
- A women’s weaving cooperative to provide economic support to impoverished women
- Tree-planting campaigns for environmental security
- Leadership training for pastors and parish leaders
- Technical training and a welding school for youths
These projects, among others, are aimed at assisting our impoverished parishioners and providing them with opportunities to achieve economic independence and security. Many of these projects are aimed at women’s empowerment, as the support of women is one of the priorities of the Lutheran Church of Rwanda. However, we are dedicated to supporting all of our parishioners and supporting their development. Capacity for Diakonia allows us to train and develop church leaders and to equip our members with the tools to overcome poverty and improve their livelihoods.
