Partnered with ELCA Global Mission, the churches of the Lutheran Church of Rwanda work together to support Rwanda’s children and vulnerable groups. After the 1994 Genocide, Rwanda was left with many orphans and victims of the violence. As a result, many Rwandans were left in need of support and care. Many of these victims were left to suffer from poverty, abuse, health problems -including HIV/AIDS – and disabilities, and lack of access to basic needs. The Lutheran Church of Rwanda is dedicated to providing assistance to the orphans and victims of the genocide, as well as all other vulnerable groups within our country.
In line with the teachings of Christ, the LCR aims to support these vulnerable groups and ameliorate the social restrictions perpetuating the problems facing vulnerable groups.
We hope that we will be able to support the needs of children and vulnerable groups within Rwanda. We believe that, as followers of Christ, we have a responsibility to help those most in need. While it is important for churches to grow in membership to spread the mission of the gospel, it is more important that churches grow deeper in the faith and works of Christ to make a more perfect world in his image.
