We are in the Lutheran tradition on a common journey of renewal. We strive to put our faith into action within and beyond the communion, and seek God’s Word and Spirit to guide us.
We share a vision, purpose and values. We work to strengthen our relationships and build an inclusive, respectful communion.
“The Lutheran Church of Rwanda (LCR) was established in late 1994 to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all Rwandans. Historically, German missionaries first introduced the Lutheran church to Rwanda in the 20th century.
After World War I, the missionaries were sent back home and then the London Missionary Society, Presbyterian Church of Rwanda (EPR), and the Seventh Day Adventist Church took over the activities that were started by the Lutherans. In 1994, Rwandans who had been living in Tanzania as refugees for more than 45 years returned back to Rwanda.
The Father, creator of all that exists;
Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and
the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments.
The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
